If you are a photographer in Asheville, at one time or another you have relied on the beauty of the UNC-A Botanical Gardens. Conveniently located in North Asheville, this natural setting provides photographic opportunities at every corner of its public space. The photo above presents itself as a serene off the beaten path location, but in reality, the male subject is actually blocking two kids playing in the creek, while cars buzz by just to the right of the creek.

Sonny's Transformation
Sonny Cell is a screenwriter and actor from Marshall, North Carolina. He has written several scripts for CSI and is hoping to be an extra during their filming in Louisiana. The "dirt" on his face is actually a mixture of coco powder and dust. Five weeks of beard growing and a couple of shots of Cuervo Gold completed the transformation.

Dean Ween Band
I've been lucky enough to see Ween in Asheville multiple times over the years in different Venues as they grew in popularity. Since their break-up, Claude game to the Emerald Lounge with his group Amandala, and Gene came to the Orange Peel with his band. This past weekend, Dean followed suite and brought The Moist Boys to the Asheville Music Hall. He played classic tunes like Tears for Eddie, With My Own Bare Hands, Gabrielle, and It's Gonna Be a Long Night. It was an absolute honor to see legend such as Dean in such a small setting. Maybe a reunion tour could happen, but if not, I feel blessed to have been able to enjoy their live shows over the years.
Going Outside with the PhotoBox
Claxton Farm hosted an eccentric group for the wedding of Jesse Jones, and NC PhotoBox was there for its first outdoor gig. The lighting was constantly changing, but thanks to the high-powered Alien Bee Ring Flash, some of the images turned into contemporary art. A party for the ages! Photos of the fire-eaters coming soon!
Sweet Sixteen
Somehow I have managed to be a professional photographer for almost fifteen years and I have never worked a birthday party (for hire that is). Camryn's Sweet Sixteen was an affair not soon to be forgotten thanks to the design team of BobbyMark's Design. The Red Carpet created a high intense energy and NC PhotoBox was there to capture the action.
Joe Lasher Jr
Here are some of the photos from the Joe Lasher Jr Band shoot. The studio shots were taken at French Broad Imaging. This band is as hot as fire right now, with album sells and radio spots across the country. I've got my fingers crossed for these guys!
Castle Ladyhawke
It's always a pleasure to photograph a castle wedding!!! What fun! Chelsey, Ben and Bently made their dreams a reality and tied the knot at the famous Castle Ladyhawke. Everyone looked their best and guest filled the the castle with laughter and love.
French Broad Imaging
I would like to give a big shout out to Tony and Patrick at French Broad Imaging for hooking up the studio for me at their South Asheville location ( 524B Hendersonville Road). Tony set up his Einstein AlienBees and they worked to perfection! If you need photo restoration or prints from you last vacation, let these guys be of service. Spot on printing and a friendly environment equals better images for you and you might even learn something if you stick around long enough. Thanks guys!
Claxton Elementary Fundraiser
The Claxton Elementray Fundraiser was held at The Mill Room in Asheville North Carolina. It started with a silent auction featuring an array of items from local businesses and artist. The silent auction was followed by a live auction featuring Moog Fest weekend passes and other exciting getaways. Teachers and Parents celebrated the coming school by generously giving above and beyond. Publicly funded education survives and strives with support of this magnitude. Support your local educators! Volunteer and give back to your community!
Katuah Market Grand Opening
This weekend marked the grand opening of the Katuah Market (even though it has been open for two months)! I cannot begin to express how thrilled I am to have them within walking distance to my office! Fresh, hot, healthy, organic lunches at an affordable price! The cafe is very spacious and is a great place to take a midday break. Hit me up if you are in the mood for a smoothie or if you crave something with a little kick, the Gypsy Queen usually has something on the hot bar. Mmmmm!
